Built for the Long Haul: Darian’s Pursuit for the Best Boots

Some people are born into their trade. Others, like Darian, build their path with grit and curiosity.

A seasoned diesel mechanic, Darian spends his days diagnosing and repairing everything from medium-duty rigs to heavy-duty trucks. Whether he’s in the shop or out in the field, his hands are always working. But before he mastered his craft, Darian was simply a man with a passion for learning. He didn't go to a technical college, and no one in his family was a mechanic to learn from. Darian put in the long hours to learn on his own.

Darian’s education was self-taught: through books, trial and error, and persistence. He even bought an engine just to take it apart, studying every piece like a puzzle. That self-made path led him to a position as a machine shop engine builder helper, where he learned hands-on until experience became expertise.

Darian believes in paying it forward. “Once you are experienced, help the new ones learn about the field, make them feel welcomed, and commend them,” he says. “Treat others the way that you would want to be treated.”

Over a decade ago, Darian was on the hunt for boots that were both durable and comfortable. He’d tried nearly every brand, but nothing stuck.
