    • The Goodyear Welt is one of the oldest and most durable boot construction methods. Goodyear welts are highly durable and can be resoled once the outsole tread wears down due to extended use.
    • The 'welt', in a Goodyear welt construction, is a strip of leather or plastic that is about an inch wide and is wrapped around the upper part of a boot. This construction method involves sewing the welt to the upper. After the welt is attached to the upper, the protruding part of the welt is stitched to the midsole of the boot, creating a visible stitch around the upper leather. Once the upper, welt, and midsole are stitched together the sole of the boot is cemented on using industrial grade adhesives.
